Belinda likes exclamation points! Belinda also likes to talk in the third person but that is also very hard. Belinda is involved with Right to Learn because whenever she hears what students have to say about schools, most likely they are outrageous and ridiculous. The injustice that is the education system in California allows teachers that still discriminate against queer students to teach, students to fail because they lack the money to buy their art supplies, and food that makes students go home sicker than when they came to school. This is not what the school system should be. School should be a place where students go to have a safe place to learn and be themselves.
My high school experience was a lot like a normal experience. I didn’t like high school. I had senioritis since I was a sophomore. I was very involved in high school but I didn’t have a lot of school spirit. My best experiences in high school were in programs like Peer Resources and Mock Trial. In Peer Resources I did a lot of Peer Education and I presented a lot of workshops on various topics. In Mock Trial, I just argued a lot and that is one of my favorite past times so why not do it productively.
In my free time I like to knit, listen to music and read. My favorite author is Kurt Vonnegut. He thinks of the most random stories ever. My favorite books by him are Cat’s Cradle and Slapstick. If I explained either of the plots to either book, you’d probably look at me like I was crazy. Right now on repeat on my iPod are Regina Spektor, Cold War Kids, Brand New, Say Anything, Deerhoof and Interpol.
Anyway! Education needs to Change! The people in power need to listen to student seeing as they are the base of the education system and the future people in power.
Peace!
