I am a student at City College of San Francisco and technically an artist. I haven’t had a chance to paint and draw like I used to but I really want to!
Some other things I love doing are working at Balboa High School where I get to run groups and help out the Peer Resources program there. I was in a Peer Resources class my senior year in high school which was offered as an elective to teach young people skills to help their school community.
I really care for people in my community which is why I have been part of an organization called Mission Dignity for over 3 years which is located in the mission district of San Francisco. I fully support places like Mission Dignity and Peer Resources because it is programs like those that help young people find support they need to finish high school.
I got involved with RTL because I really care about young people and the education that we receive. The education we receive is very important because it affects the way we think, feel and it definitely affects our entire lives.
You would think that something so crucial for people would be valued more but I do not believe it is. If you go on our site and see some of the stories of young people you can see what I am talking about. There are too many people who are discriminated and criminalize in our schools.
How can we expect a future full of change and prosperity when the majority of students are not valued and given the education they deserve? Right To Learn has helped to put some of these things in the spotlight where they should be!
