Announcing the five most compelling stories
After nearly three months of hearing from California students about what needs to change in their schools, the Right To Learn Campaign is proud to announce the five most compelling stories selected by RTL users and a panel of outside judges.
These stories cover a wide variety of topics, from concern over California’s standardized testing program to a desire for more student freedom. Two stories talked about the need for better teachers in California’s schools and another detailed why budget cuts proposed by the Governor will hurt schools in the state.
As we talked with the five young people who wrote these stories, we realized that they had amazing stories in their own lives that were worth sharing. Leslye and Belinda took the lead and wrote profiles about each of them:
- Jean Teodoro, author of “Free“
- Lauren Grubaugh, author of “Governor’s cuts will hurt students“
- Eric Seidman, author of “On Standardizing Education“
- Thomas Bruce, author of “WHY SHOULD WE CARE?!!!“
- Haiyun Weng, author of “Psychology“
Congratulations to these five students for their tremendous stories. Take a look at them and let them know what you think in the comments sections.
If you haven’t yet submitted your own story, there’s still time. Just visit the Right To Learn site and tell your story!
